One of my goals is to someday do a photographic series on San Francisco’s sets of public steps.  A hilly city, we are blessed by many of these, climbing past leafy backyards and past gates and walkways that lead to the spacious homes, tiny cottages, and apartments of those who are lucky enough to live along them.  These steps are on the east side of Twin Peaks within an easy walk of my home.  Here I was struck by the contrast between the  shape of the tree and the disciplined line of the manmade fence.

Spent last weekend in this town in the Sonoma wine country.  Many historic homes surrounding downtown.  This one was showing some wear–one of the things I like best in a house.  Why?  If I could tell you that adequately, I might not have photograph them. Used a tilt-shift lens to bring both the tree and the doorway into focus.

Warm weather for San Francisco the last few days, and I have been stretching out my route to work in search of pictures.  I love this building, the open window to catch the morning breeze, and the steps cut into the steep sidewalk.
